These beads were made by a Gold member of mine at WW. We discovered a shared interest in jewellery making, although with different media. Last week, I went to her house, along with several other like-minded people, and we had a 'show and tell' session. She wanted to buy a bracelet of mine and I wanted some of her beads...so we did a swap - like the days before money! She calls herself 'Purple Duck'. As yet, she doesn't have a web-site, but I hope that she will set one up soon.


This piece is from Bead and Button magazine. I fell in love with the pattern when I saw it and HAD to make it. Once I got my head around the instructions, it was easy to make, although it looks much harder. I love peacock colours and I think that they suit the paisley pattern beautifully. I do intend to turn it into a bracelet but am a bit stuck as to which finding would be the best.



This bracelet is from the current issue of Bead magazine. It is really pretty and an easy pattern to follow. I am making another one in pinks and black.



This bracelet is a 'flat cellini' stitch. I am not 100% happy with it and cocked up the clasp somewhat. I think that the wave in the pattern is not obvious enough and I will be sticking to tubular cellini stitch in future - the results are more interesting.



And finally, this bracelet is also from Bead and Button. Again, I am not 100% happy with it, but not through anything I did wrong. I just don't think it looks as good as the ones in the magazine picture. Maybe my colours needed to be more diverse - contrasting instead of toning. What do you think? Comments very much appreciated.

Is It The Time of Year For Caterpillars?

Because this one has appeared on my beading table...

Actually, it is a 'double spiral with spiky and bumpy loops' from a class I did last year. During the class, I concentrated on other patterns and didn't make this one. However, my friend makes loads of them so I thought I would give it a go. I am about half way through it, but it is taking ages!

Cellini Spiral Bracelet

I think that the colours on this one are going to be like Marmite - you will either love them or hate them! I love them...they remind me of an old school tie. The Cellini Spiral is a very satisfying stitch as it is beautiful to look at and very sturdy to wear.

Spiral Necklace

This necklace is absolutely stunning - the photos do not show the colours properly, which is a shame. It is approximately 15 inches long, so sits at the base of the neck. I absolutely love it but it is going in my Folksy shop...

Another Cellini Spiral Bracelet

This time in blues and greens. The effect is striking and attractive although the photo doesn't do it complete justice.

The Finished Thursday Night Project

Finished on Sunday! The only problem is that one side is slightly thinner than the other - because I ran out of thread and started with the new thread from the wrong end. I only noticed when I had got to the end of the whole thing. Grrrrrr.

TTNP - A Little Bit More...

You might be able to see that I managed to add in the bridging beads and facets last night. I also made a start on one of the sides as I finally decided to make it into a full necklace. I haven't done any more though as Mum and I had a lovely day out.

TTNP - 19 Nov 2008

This is what I am currently working on - a necklace from an old copy of Bead magazine. It looked too hard and I put off making it for months, but I decided to have a go yesterday. I still have to finish the 'bridging' of the spirals to secure them and add facet beads in. Then I need to extend it slightly if I go for a bracelet, or a lot if I make it into a full necklace. I am undecided at the moment. I think that the design is very similar to the 'Ogalala' bracelets I made in May. However, the spirals are less lacy and more tight into each other so the end result is completely different.

A Lariat for MIL's Birthday

This was made as a present for my mother-in-law. I took lots of jewellery to show her on Sunday and she liked the purple lariat I made in March or April. I asked her if she would like one and she specified blacks and pearls as a colour. I really hope she likes it! I wore it this morning (as I always road-test my pieces before giving them away - to make sure that there are no faults) and sold one to a friend! So wearing pieces CAN generate sales!

It is made from a simple rope/spiral stitch which is easy but time-consuming. The beads are size 9 seed beads.
