Loopy Garden Bracelet - Commission

Here is another one of my Loopy Garden Bracelets (the pattern for which has appeared in Bead Magazine). It was a commission for my next door neighbour and made me think differently about my usual choice of colour schemes. I tend to go for browns and teals, but black and white is definitely something I would consider exploring more!

Bead Magazine - Out Now!

This is my third pattern in Bead magazine. I have a few ideas buzzing around in my head for more designs, but need to get them on to paper. That is a bit of a problem at the moment, a my life seems to be too busy for beading :(

Well, I say that, but I have been making a few cards and am currently sewing a cross-stitch pattern. I think that I might be all beaded out! I am able to make small and quick things, but more involved pieces are too time-consuming.

My Second Project in This Month's 'Bead' Magazine

I am a very lucky crafter to have had three projects accepted for this magazine. My third is hopefully coming out in the following issue. I design by 'playing' with beads and you can imagine how many things I give up because they just don't work! This one came about when I was doing my Level 2 C&G course. I didn't like the pattern that we had been given, so I decided to create my own, using the brief.

The Day Has Come!

Finally, I can share my exciting news with you. I am a published designer! Bead magazine have printed one of my designs (see p50 of 'Bead' magazine) and actually paid me for it! So, I am a proper designer now...guess what job title is going on my passport next time I apply for one!

I will post photographs asap but I wanted to tell you the great news!

'Fluffy' Bracelet!

This is adapted from a pattern in the first ever issue of Bead magazine. I have altered it a fair amount as it is a really basic pattern otherwise. I think that the colours work really well and it will soon be appearing in my Folksy shop (link to right of page).

Bracelet - New In My Shop

This is one of the bracelets that I made for 'Bead Soup' in Bead magazine. Unfortunately, my work got missed when the pieces went to be photographed, so they weren't in the magazine - although more on that at a later date...
The bracelet is going in my shop - see link on the right.

Bead Soup

The beads

Bracelet 1 - Charm bracelet

Bracelet 2 - Peyote Freeform

Bracelet 3 - Simply strung

I was supposed to appear in this month's Bead Magazine, in their Bead Soup feature. For those of you who don't know, they send a mixture of beads to a few people and they have to make something interesting. For some reason, my work did not get published, although I do think (but I may be biased!) that my bracelets were as good as the work published. I am really disappointed :( Oh well, keep plodding on!

One person who DID get published is Crafter...oo's very own Kerry from PennyDog. Her project is on page 16 onwards and it is great. Mind you, all her things are fabulous and original.

Edit 07/10 to say:
I just got a lovely email from the editor of the magazine. It was a photographer error, and her emails were not getting through to me either for some reason. I am so relieved! I think I need to believe in myself a little more instead of thinking I have always done something wrong!
Thanks for the lovely supportive posts xxx

The Thursday Night Project - 17 June

This is a design that I thought up today, based on a 'loop-di-loop' pattern that was in a very early issue of Bead Magazine. Instead of just doing loops of beads, I have done one row of strands with facets on, one row of leaves and the obligatory row of loops. It all blends in nicely and is actually fairly substantial to hold. As you can see from the bottom picture, I have not finished the toggle fastener, so that is what I intend to do tonight.

TTNP - A Little Bit More...

You might be able to see that I managed to add in the bridging beads and facets last night. I also made a start on one of the sides as I finally decided to make it into a full necklace. I haven't done any more though as Mum and I had a lovely day out.

TTNP - 19 Nov 2008

This is what I am currently working on - a necklace from an old copy of Bead magazine. It looked too hard and I put off making it for months, but I decided to have a go yesterday. I still have to finish the 'bridging' of the spirals to secure them and add facet beads in. Then I need to extend it slightly if I go for a bracelet, or a lot if I make it into a full necklace. I am undecided at the moment. I think that the design is very similar to the 'Ogalala' bracelets I made in May. However, the spirals are less lacy and more tight into each other so the end result is completely different.

Bead Magazine - Wave Bracelet

I liked this in the magazine, so decided to have a go. It was fairly easy - being Peyote stitch, which I really like. I thought I would try some brighter colours for a change too!
