This bracelet idea came to me from a picture in a book I own by Carol Huber Cypher. I took the basic idea and made it my own, using buttons made for me by Gill at Hollingdale Designs. The finished result is lovely and really original. I love the hex beads in the work, giving it a bit of sparkle and bling, and Gill's buttons really make it look quirky.
She is an amazing crafter and person and I just wanted to say WELL DONE GILL!
Aren't they gorgeous! I am going to use them on a patchwork bracelet I am making for a little girl. I thought that she would love the buttons to be heart shaped as all little girls love that sort of thing don't they. So, I knew exactly where to go to order some especially for me...Hollingdale Designs. She normally makes fantastic glass beads but has become a bit obsessed (in the best possible way!) with making buttons lately. My son now knows not to stand still too long...
This chain was made from a pattern in Bead & Button. I didn't want to make the whole lariat, so I made a short necklace and used one of Hollingdale Design's beads - the ones I had made for me - as a toggle. I think the colours of the lampwork bead complement the seed beads perfectly. I decided that it would be a shame to hide such a beautiful bead at the back of the neck and so made the toggle into a feature. I will wear it as a pendant at the front.
